Foot/Reflexology Massage

Foot reflexology massage is an ancient healing practice believed to have originated over 4,000 years ago in China and Egypt. Early depictions of foot therapy were found in Egyptian tombs, while traditional Chinese medicine integrated foot massage as part of holistic treatment. The modern version of reflexology was developed in the early 20th century by Dr. William Fitzgerald, who introduced “zone therapy,” later refined by Eunice Ingham into the reflexology practiced today.

Reflexology is based on the principle that specific points on the feet correspond to organs and systems in the body. Applying pressure to these reflex points is believed to promote healing, improve circulation, relieve stress, and restore balance in the body’s systems.

One of the most notable benefits of foot reflexology is its ability to reduce tension and anxiety. Many people report a deep sense of relaxation after a session, which can lead to improved sleep and mood. It also supports better circulation, potentially aiding detoxification and nutrient transport. For individuals with chronic pain or stress-related conditions, regular reflexology sessions may provide non-invasive, drug-free relief. While more scientific studies are needed, reflexology remains a popular complementary therapy used worldwide for promoting general well-being.
